Hey DEV, I'm Tobore. Let's actually connect.
I've been on here for a while now, mostly writing and lurking, but I realized I don't actually know that many of you. So this is me fixing that.
I'm based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. I build websites, and I also do technical documentation and content writing. Most of what I write comes from projects I've actually built or shipped, not stuff I read about somewhere. I currently hold the DEV React Top Author badge and I recently won the Google I/O 2026 Writing Challenge for Technical Writers.
Right now I'm building my career, taking on freelance dev and writing work, and studying for AWS SAA-C03 on the side. I also run BuildWithTee, which is basically my attempt at building in public: code, write, connect.
What I'm looking for here

I am a DEV member for half a year now and became one of the most active DEV Community Mod on the platform by far! I like being on dev.to just to see what others have created and ensuring the platform to rise in new heights by enforcing dev.to mission and ensuring everyone here feels welcome regardless of skill and experience level.

Hey Tobore, I'm Adam. I'm a software engineer, I work mostly deep in distributed systems and microservices and I can kinda find my way around frontend stuff too. I'm not really a tech writer but I just love writing.
I joined DEV since 2023 but only started writing in 2025 because I wanted to rant so bad because i saw a really bad code haha.
besides tech, I'm a pianist, my hearing is very sensitive so I play by ear, too lazy to learn to read sheet music but I enjoy classical music.

Hi xulingfeng, that really resonates. Publishing into the void versus actually building relationships around your writing are very different, and I'm only now catching up on the second part.
The 36 Stratagems series sounds like a fascinating long-term project, especially translating something that old through a modern writing-craft lens. My biggest writing tip so far: write from what you've actually built or broken, not what you've read. Readers can tell the difference immediately. Followed you back, looking forward to seeing where the series goes!

@toboreeee Good luck with it. One thing I'd add now that you're heading into it: when you do the practice questions, don't just check whether you got them right — write down which axis you thought it was testing versus which one it actually was. The gap between those two is where the exam gets people, and it's a much faster feedback loop than re-reading service docs.
And yeah, please do report back. The "answer I'd blog vs the answer AWS wants" write-up is the kind of thing I'd actually read, because most exam recaps are just brain-dumps of the syllabus.

Since you write from what you've actually shipped and you're going for SAA-C03: the exam is where a lot of good technical writers get a rude surprise, because it rewards the opposite instinct. Your build-in-public writing succeeds by being opinionated and picking the one right answer. SAA-C03 questions are deliberately built so several answers are technically correct and you have to choose the "best" one against a hidden priority — usually cost, then operational overhead, then availability, in that unspoken order.
The trick that helped people I've watched grind it: don't study services, study the trade-off axis each service sits on. Kinesis vs SQS isn't "which does streaming" — it's ordering and replay vs simple decoupling. Aurora vs RDS is managed-overhead vs control. Once you can name the axis a question is testing, the two plausible-but-wrong answers usually collapse fast. Might make good BuildWithTee material too — "the answer I'd write in a blog vs the answer AWS wants" is a genuinely fresh angle.
